Sure it would be great to have the bankroll to work with a professional web design firm right from the start.
But as Denise Aday observed, bootstrapping entrepreneurs starting with next to nothing just don't have that luxury.
"If money hadn't been a barrier, I probably would have worked with a design company. The pros can help you with branding, give your site a polished look, and add the wow factor," she said.
Then again, drawing on her past experience and a little creativity, Denise said she believes she came pretty close to recreating the look of one of those fancy website formats without the added equipment or software—and without a professional web designer either.
