Prestileo's workspace is a small desk in her bedroom where she makes Pencil

drawings on paper, scans them in to a small PC workstation and applies color and other enhancements using a Wacom tablet, a $200 purchase that represents one of her largest investments.
Her website currently costs her just $12 a month and was upgraded from a free Yahoo! account simply because the volume of drawings she was including exceeded the allotted space limitations.
All of her work occurs within a few feet of a bookshelf crammed full of her comic inspirations, both professionally and fan produced.
Prestileo's approach is not without precedent.
