Like many in the bootstrapping business community, Prestileo points out that it is hard to know where her work might eventually lead her.

As an example, Prestileo points to artist Teresa Dietzinger, whose work displayed on her amethyst-angel.com website has expanded into a side business creating costumes inspired by the Renaissance and the anime characters she loves.

Artists with a talent for drawing are not alone in using a bootstrap philosophy characterized by an emphasis on getting their product before customers instead of worrying about funding.
