Bootstrapper Resources

Ckint Jhonson offers these thoughts for using the weblogging trend as the ultimate method for bootstrapping your business.
Why:
• Blogs are more popular with search engines than other websites
• This popularity will give you greater ranking on the search engines in your business's chosen niche
• Many blogs can be started free (blogger, wordpress, soulcast, LiveJournal) so there is no cost besides your time for this marketing strategy
• Blogs build their own authority in a given niche and this over time can translate into traffic to your main business site
How:
• Choose a subject to interest customers your business targets (If you sell digital cameras, a blog on digital photography techniques might be a good bet)
• Update your blog regularly with fresh content to keep readers interested and to maintain a good search engine ranking.
• Establish a relationship with your customers. Answer questions and respond to comments promptly
• Comment on other blogs related to your niche. (This can build karma in the on line community and gain you back links which will add to your Google PageRank)
• Give away freebies (Again not necessarily products but related materials. Going back to our digital camera example this could be a free downloadable e-book on digital camera techniques)

Until I started adding blogs to my more static sites, I never realized this. If you don't have a blog you're missing out.
