Experts say the trend toward business with social conscience is widespread including an increasing move toward "fair trade" encouraging fair prices, fair labor conditions, direct trade and re-investment in community development.

In an article on Styles' new venture, David Cooperrider, a professor at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, who heads the institution's Center for Business as an Agent of World Benefit told the Associated Press:

Good management is going to be increasingly management that both does good and does well. In other words, we're not going to be able to do well financially unless we are a corporation that is a very, very valued and trusted partner in society.
