Bootstrapper's hall of fame: VA ventures

In a recent e-mail, Denise Aday confirms she has launched a new blog, a sign, it seems, that her virtual assistant business continues to move in new directions.
But way back in 2006, Denise was just getting started after being laid off from a full-time job.
We hope to have a lengthier conversation with Denise soon about how her business is going. For now though, from an earlier interview, the story of how it all began:
• A seed is planted. Though Denise believes she always had an inner entrepreneur deep down, it was an unexpected layoff that finally caused her to take action.
• The wave of the future. She chose a burgeoning field as a virtual assistant where her years of experience in an office setting would prove a great advantage.
• A career for bootstrappers. Denise and others found careers as virtual assistants the perfect bootstrapped startup with little investment needed and their hard won experience as the chief asset.
• All about resources. Though Denise needed little in the way of outside funding, she had built up overtime from her previous and that and that and a recent severance package her husband had received tided her over until her business launch.
• A market is born. Some say the rise of the virtual assistant has arrived with these vital services being outsourced as easily as manufacturing or other business functions putting Denise on the vanguard of change.
Stay tuned for further developments.
