Remember Allen Shatto from our previous post on starting with nothing who sold beef and clover seeds to put food on the table while launching his chemical engineering consultant firm?
When he finally did start his business it was out of his Bel Air, Maryland, home.
His first five hires, four engineers and a scientist
, all worked from their homes too as did an additional 15 freelancers, Shatto's "adjunct staff".Also, as mentioned earlier, bootstrapping guru Greg Gianforte started his highly successful software business in a spare bedroom
Read the stories of other bootstrapper's who kept costs down by starting their businesses at home or used some other technique for keeping the cost of office space low.
And read the next post discussing the benefits of the working at home approach.
