Bootstrapping can be about hunger

This great comment from Miles at College Mogul reminds us of the importance of hunger especially to the bootstrapping entrepreneur.
That hunger I believe most prospective entrepreneurs probably share includes:
• Hunger to prove oneself
• Hunger to make one's mark in the world
• Hunger to create something new and exciting in the marketplace
• And, yes, hunger for a better life for oneself and one's family when looking at rising gas prices and the cost of food and other important things in life.
This isn't to say that bootstrappers are greedy and they certainly aren't lazy seeking a get rich quick scheme to bring them to a new income level that will allow them to meet all their wants and need.
By definition, bootstrapping is hard work and not for the faint of heart. It is much more labor intensive to build a business from the ground up than to convince someone with money to finance your dreams.
And it is a much greater challenge to create a business out of nothing than to follow the recommendations of someone else selling a product for which they have already laid the groundwork. But in the end, I believe it is also much more fulfilling.
