Canadian singer/songwriter Brad Turcotte offered free downloads of his recordings free on line and only after making enough money from licensing his songs did he invest in manufacturing a CD version of his music for sale.
Some Print on Demand services like CafePress.com and Lulu.com offer the opportunity to upload music and create CD's only after someone has actually purchased a copy, a wonderful opportunity for savings.
