A wide variety of services and products can be turned into low cost start-up business ideas with some advanced planning.
Businesses focused on your skills and talents allow you to be comfortable with the service or product you are providing, letting you concentrate on the running of the business and the learning curve involved.
For example, when a business partner and I decided to try to start a local newspaper, it was after years of working in the newspaper business, so that we already possessed many of the skill sets needed to move forward.
Though the business did not see reality because of financing, (a major reason for moving to the bootstrap model) our ability to do the work involved in day to day operation of a newspaper was never in question.
Here are another series of ideas in three niche categories that may take advantage of some special talent you possess.
Product Businesses
• Arts & Crafts
• Direct Sales
• Jewelry Creation
• Mobile Photography
• Retail Kiosks
Special Event Businesses
• Catering
• Event Planning
• Wedding Consulting
Misc. Businesses
• Hobby Business
• Interior Designer or Decorator
• Remodeling Contractor
• Sports & Recreation Business
