So, why does your business need a blog? Well, a boat load of people smarter on this subject than I am have the following insights.

A blog can:
• Draw an attractive demographic and be an inexpensive way to increase your company's online exposure

• Serve as a great marketing tool but not necessarily a direct response sales mechanism

• Boost your profile with customers and the media and boost your web site's ranking on search results

• Serve a PR function by attracting more attention to your business or service

• Open a dialogue and exchange of ideas with customers and potential customers.

Of course, as consultant and business blogger Dave Taylor observes, blogging is not always the best or most desirable use of a CEO or business owner's time.
