Apologies for not updating sooner on our weekend podcast with the Succeed in the Music Business team Sunday.
Among topics covered with co-hosts KasondraK and Jeronimo Black were:
• Marketing. How the bootstrapping musician gets his/her work out there.
• Social networks. From the big ones like MySpace and Facebook to the lesser knowns and up and comings like Virb and its music franchise Purevolume
• Blogs. Their importance for the modern music entrepreneur in the digital age.
• Otaku. A Japanese term for the obsessive folks who will spread you music virally.
(More about Otaku and other key aspects of marketing theory from Seth Godin at this post.)
• Getting started. Read Guy Kawasaki's "The Art of Bootstrapping" with particular attention to point # 3 and Dane Carlson's "20 Things Not to Do Before Starting A Business". The point? Don't over prepare.
If you missed it, here's the show.
