Bootstrapper Tips
by Shawn Hessinger on March 22, 2008

Sitting at a staff meeting recently discussing expansions recently, a realized the radical difference between a bootstrapped and a more conventional business approach.
To be sure, expansion of business activities should never be done without careful consideration.
When I decided recently to expand the news offerings of my bootstrapped PostRanger.com media network to include News of the Poconos it was due to a belief that the area was a fertile opportunity.
But instead of discussing the amount of money needed to open a new branch office I just started a new website-about 15 minutes investment in time and no cost.
The earnings will, of course, take care of themselves-one way or the other.

Exactly. Too often would be entrepreneurs spend pretending to run a business when in fact they don't know if they have an actual business.

This is even worse if they are investing a large amount of money in a business without having any idea whether the business is sound.
