Reflections on the self-reliant bootstrapper

Twenty-four year old Austin, TX, entrepreneur Chad Sakonchick dug holes for septic systems with pick and shovel by day while cobbling together his company Posima.com.
The firm provides domain name, web design, hosting and content management services for small businesses and non-profits allowing them direct control over their web presence either free (if you provide your own domain) or at a $19 basic or $35 pro rate.
Sakonchick's story reflects both the self-reliant do-it-yourself ethic and the willingness to go outside one's skill set for needed services expressed by Seth Godin in The Bootstrapper's Bible:
I will leverage my skills to become the key to every department of my company, yet realize that hiring experts can be the secret to my success. I will be a fervent and intelligent user of technology, to conserve my two most precious assets: time and money.
Sakonchick worked with contractors from four different countries communicating by e-mail at night after work to build his company. On self-reliance versus outsourcing he says:
When I need food, I don't go outside, shoot a cow and pick tomatoes from my garden. I go to a grocery store.Other suggestions he offers to the bootstrapping entrepreneur are:
• Don't Panic...If you are buried alive in a coffin, you will use air less quickly and have a better chance of surviving by keeping a calm head vs. panicking.
• Reframe problems...Reframing means find the correct problem first then follow with the proper solution.
• Budget...If you have $10,000 to spend, why make your budget $10,000 when we know you'll go over?
• Forget the Others...During this process I received an uncanny amount of pushback from my friends and family telling me to get a real job...I now have those same skeptics eating their words, calling my software a multi-million dollar idea.
