Keeping a good relationship with his former employer, he used that company as a source for early referrals.

With money from his second client, Dorobanescu made his first significant investment, purchase of two lap top computers. He operates his business out of his home in an effort to keep overhead low.

"You should focus on what is getting you money," Dorobanescu said of his strategy.

Still, in a blog he began maintaining in March 2005 about his entrepreneurial journey, Dorobanescu said his interest in running a small business on the side was rooted in something deeper than financial rewards.
