Top 10 list includes bootstrap principles

Notice the points under consultant Cherilyn R. Lester's Top 10 Mistakes Entrepreneurs Make When Starting a Business that have to do with spending too much money on start-up. She recommends that entrepreneurs:
· Try to take a do-it-yourself approach to designing their website
· Don't spend money on business cards, brochures and fliers
· Don't spend money on a yellow pages ad
Lester further advises that start-up entrepreneurs take some other basic bootstrapping principals to heart.
First, being a "carpenter" is too general. There are a million carpenters
in the world, but the only successful ones have something to concentrate on.
Wood carving, house renovation, specialized pieces. Like the old saying goes,
"Jack of all trades, master of none."
Lester also urges persistence trying week after week to drive visitors to the website that promotes your business and always trying to bring in new clients. Check out Lester's personal consulting site here and for seven inexpensive start-up business ideas of interest to bootstrappers with little or no capital see this list from About.com.
