What is bootstrapping?

What is bootstrapping?

When it comes to starting a new business venture, the issue of financing is always raised. However, an increasing number of entrepreneurs question whether the traditional model of start-up through investment dollars and small business loans is the best or even a desirable way to proceed. The alternative is bootstrapping, a method of start-up using little or no outside investment, and is the subject of this web log. A comprehensive explanation of the origin of the term and its broad implications, not only in the world of business, but also in the fields of computing, linguistics, physics, biology, electronics, statistics, law and phylogeny, can be found here at a link provided courtesy of fellow blogger Guy Kawasaki. Starting a small business can be a strong challenge. I appreciate the new alternative but i think the term “bootstrapping” is a little bit too complex in this context. Ok, it can have great implications but this is after you get your business on it’s feet. Where does this take us? Back to the traditional business loans i guess.
